SISTERS TOGETHER ACHIEVING RESULTS, INC. (STAR)


STAR is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based in Rochester, New York.

STAR was incorporated in 2002 and our origin dates back to 1978. STAR is dedicated to providing young women the necessary tools for a well-balanced life. We nurture and enhance principles of integrity, honesty, fairness, hard work, dedication, love and respect for others.

"Star Polishers"

What do we do? We are Star Polishers? It's a very important job. If you want to know how important, just go out at night and look at the stars twinkling and sparkling.

You see we are mentors. The stars are the young ladies of Sisters Together Achieving Results, Inc. Our job is to take them - in whatever shape they come - and shine and buff them and then send them out to take their places as bright, twinkling beacons in the sky. They come into our organization in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they're bent, tarnished, dirty, crinkly, or broken. Some stars are cuddly and soft. Some are prickly and thorny.



As we buff and polish, we train and mentor our little stars;
We tell them they can do anything they set their minds to. We tell them they can be the brightest, shiniest stars in the sky and the world will be a better place because of them.

Each night as we look at the sky, we're reminded of our very important job and awesome responsibility. Then we get our soft buffing cloth and our bottle of polish in preparation for tomorrow.....

We believe that every young woman has a unique contribution to make to the world. Given the tools to properly develop a positive perspective, young women will be empowered to overcome the various life threatening obstacles they encounter. The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, Inc. is the fiduciary of STAR, Inc.

Sisters Together Achieving Results, Inc. is to educate young women in life skills, utilizing prevention strategies to enrich their quality of life.

COMPETITIVE POSITION AND MARKET

Although there are a few community based programs that target at risk youth, we do not view our organization as just another of these programs. STAR, Inc's mission is to educate young women in life skills utilizing preventive strategies in order to enrich their quality of life.


Colors:

Our organizational colors are black (power, elegance, and formality). Gold (generosity and elevation of mind), and White (purity) and gold (generosity and elevation of mind).
